Ross Nichols served 26 years in the Army as a Royal Engineer. He began his own career transition in late 2008, which he found challenging.
After completing the Army's resettlement process, he found himself without a sense of identity, and for the first time in his life without a vocation.
What began as a period of transition became a journey of self discovery, transformation and ultimately fulfillment. He started mentoring small businesses in 2010, which developed by serendipity into executive and leadership coaching; and career transition coaching. His interest in personal development and healing has drawn him into coaching for personal transformation, health and wellness, emotional intelligence, mindfulness and cancer.
He registered his company, Business Mentoring Services Ltd, in 2011.
In 2012 he formed the LinkedIn Group, 'Career Transition UK South' as a means of sharing his learning on how to find a successful new career.
He went on to found Transition Transformers® in 2013 to meet the needs of professionals in transition.
In 2014 he founded the Salisbury Coaching Circle and NLP Group affiliated to ICF (International Coaching Federation) UK
In 2016, he became an Ambassador for the International Coaching Federation UK Chapter.
In 2017 he co-founded the Cancer Coaching Community and became the leader in 2020.
In 2019, he became a Professionally Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation
In 2022, Ross launched Poetry for Coaching (due publication Nov 2024) to share the great poems and stories being written by coaches, counsellors and therapists: (10) Poetry for Coaching Community | Facebook
In 2023, Ross was a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) working group creating a competence framework for mentor-coaching.
In 2024, Ross was a member of the ICF team writing the Body of Knowledge for the coaching profession. Ross also completed Level 3 (advanced) coach education.
Ross believes that everyone has the ability, with a little help, to transform their experience of career transition into one of personal and professional transformation. His personal journey of learning and discovery continues. He is passionate about helping others to succeed, whatever that means for them. He lives in Salisbury, Wiltshire, with his family and two tortoises.
